Can I get a bag repaired?

Can I get a bag repaired if I have caused the problem? e.g. Burnt the bag on camp, cut or torn bags etc...

e.g. Burnt the bag on camp, cut or torn bags etc. Yes we will repair these problems as well. There will be a charge rate for these repairs. We also repair other brands of sleeping bags. They will also be charged on a case by case rate.

Can I move the down around the sleeping bag?

Yes, but only on box and slant wall construction bags. If you are on a mattress or have some form of insulation below you, you can move the down from the bottom of the bag to the top layer. Open the bag fully and gently shake the down from one side to the other. Note: This can not be done on the Bushlite range as the down is sealed in 37 separate compartments.

What’s the difference between double and single layer bottoms?

Are the sleeping bags with a double layer top and single layer base as warm as the two layer top and two layer base bags?

Only if you are on a mattress or some form of insulation off the ground. The main benefit of these bags is that they pack down smaller therefore giving you a lighter bag that takes up less space. For instance if you are going overseas and you have a pretty good idea you won't be sleeping out in the cold with no bedding, then the Silverfern would be excellent for this. And hey you will be carrying that Silverfern around the world with you!

What is the best all- round sleeping bag for kids and all season camping?

What would the best all-round sleeping bag be for kids’ camp and general all season casual camping?

The Domex Bushmate would have to be one of the best all round bags. It has been publicized by one of New Zealand’s top testing agencies as the ‘best value bag for the money.’ It's ideal for school camps, family camps, boating etc. It is a bit more bulky than the Micro fiber and 7d Xcell™ range, but if you are not having to carry it a long way and space is not a problem then it’s the bag you need.

How long should a sleeping bag last?

This obviously depends on how often the bag has been used, where it was used, and how well it has been looked after. When a bag has become flat and lost its loft it will not be performing properly. If your bag appears very flat, cool tumble dry it to improve the loft. Over time all sleeping bags will loose there loft. Looking after your bags by using a liner, washing and storing it correctly, will increase its life. Down bags will generally outlast fibre bags.

Do NOT store in a carry sack.

Are the sleeping bags water proof?

Not really. The Gelanots Mountaineer V900, Mountaineer 700 & Pioneer are all water resistant breathable fabric. In other words they will keep water out and also let water and moisture escape while you sleep. Note: There can be some water penetration through seams and stitch holes.
Most Sleeping bags are not water proof, even though they appear to be with there nylon outers. The outer of a Sleeping bag has to breath to let moisture out during the night. The outer fabrics we use in our products have been tested and approved for all conditions.

Can you join two sleeping bags together?

Yes. Although this does depends on the brand of bag and the design. Not all bags can be joined because of size, shape and where the zip has been manufactured (some zips will not join together). All of the Domex Hooded range of sleeping bags can be joined as a left and right bag. They have a side zip which can be undone and joined with its opposite (i.e: left hand bag to a right hand bag).
This does, however, depend on the style of bag: you can't join a Silverfern to Bushmate XL. When you are purchasing two sleeping bags ask the dealer for a left hand bag and a right hand bag. This means you can join them together if needed. Bags without hoods can also be joined together again as long as they are the same make and model.
